How to have a more human brand (essential principles)

how to have a more human brand
Today I am sharing my thoughts about about how to have a more human brand. This post is a summary of podcast episode 96.

I feel quite overwhelmed by the number of ideas I have, the lack of clarity I have to talk about them, and a profound sadness

I am impacted by the news in the world.

But I decided that wasn’t reason enough to skip today’s episode.

In recent weeks, I have been working on many new projects, as well as not-so-new projects that I continue to work on.

And when I talk about projects, I mean my own projects, not client projects.

These projects are part of my own experimentation.

These projects require me to take a lot of time to research and learn.

These projects are a crucial part of my learning process, the work I do with my clients, and what I share with you on the podcast.

And the question I’ve been asking myself lately is something like:

Is it possible that everything happening in marketing, technology, and the world is just to make us more human?

Could it be as simple as that?

What would happen in the world if we all agreed one day to be more human?

Just for one day?

The interesting thing about this question is that we probably couldn’t even agree on what it means to be more human.

You might be wondering, why am I sharing this with you?

This kind of thinking is the thinking that guides me every day.

This is the foundation of my methodology.

The methodology I work with every day and teach to my clients.

The HIGH VISIBILITY method has many guiding principles

Today, I’d like to share one of these principles with you, which is the a belief that resonates deep within me: the person on the other side of the screen is smart.

This principle guides me in my business and also in my personal life.

To me, thinking this way is everything.

Because it forces me to take a neutral position.

When I post on social media, when I record a podcast like this, when I have a sales conversation.

  • My intention is not to sell.
  • My intention is not to convince anyone.

Because doing so would contradict this very principle.

Let me explain.

If the person on the other side of the screen is smart …

  • That person has everything in their hands to make the best decisions for them.
  • That person knows what they want to think,
  • Knows what they want to do and what they don’t want to do.
  • That person will feel in their body if I am the person or the business that they want to work with.

My business or I don’t need to convince them of that.

Obeying and respecting this principle has shown me that thinking this way places all the weight and responsibility on myself and my business.

In truly learning to manage language, the way I communicate, my energy, and my own doubts.

Behaving and thinking this way challenges me to question my own thoughts and beliefs every day.

This was never obvious to me at the beginning of my online journey.

I didn’t have that clarity.

But the clarity I did have is that no matter what I did online

  • Whether it was writing a post, creating a free class, making a video, or posting a photo, I always had to feel that I was 100% true to myself.
  • And that I should never abandon any part of me in the process.
  • I should never change any part of me to be seen.
  • I should never show myself in a way that is out of integrity with myself.
  • And yes if this sounds to you like a lot of work, you are absolutely right.

This is a lot of work, it requires daily effort, but above all, it requires me to set my intention every single day.

And that’s what I set out to do today when recording this episode: how to have a more human brand

Today, I set out not to abandon any part of me.

Today, I set out to embrace every facet of my being.

Let me explain, we all have many parts, and sometimes we choose to show them, and other times we don’t. Sometimes we do it consciously, other times out of habit because we simply are not aware that we are doing it.

Today, I propose not to abandon the part that knows that at least one person in the world can benefit from my voice and opinion and let that guide and drive me to make it worth stepping out of my comfort zone… even when there is another part of me that today doesn’t feel confident in being able to convey a coherent message because I feel very sad and confused about what’s happening in the world.

Why is this so important?

Because this is not only part of a business strategy, it is also a way of being.

To have a more human brand, you need to be more human.

Really thinking that the person you have next to you is smart is a way of life.

This not only applies solely to the person behind the screen.

It applies to the people we have beside us.

It’s about being more human in your business and at the same time in your life, and not separating one from the other.

I hope you enjoyed this summary about how to have a more human brand. If you want to listen to the complete episode recorded in Spanish, head to the podcast.

how blogging helps search engine marketingI frequently remind my clients about the importance of having a blog and about keeping it up to date by regularly writing articles for it, related to their business or industry. In my opinion, blogging is without any doubt an essential part of search engine marketing strategy for their business.

It has been demonstrated in different opportunities that blogging improves web site positioning.

The article by Rich Burnes, Study Shows Business Blogging Leads to 55% More Website Visitors , even though written a few years ago, mentions the results of businesses that use blogging Vs those that don’t, and the results speak for themselves.

The more and better material is covered in your website/blog, the greater are the probabilities of attaining a better search engine marketing results. Along the same lines, if your blog has more articles with engaging and dynamic content, there is a higher probability that they will be included in Google’s and other search engine results.

Have you noticed that many successful businesses have blogs?

Obviously, blogs work!

Have you seeing that Google search results often include posts’ information?

This confirms the importance of adding new content frequently and continuously. The older the content of your blog, the better your website it is seeing by Google and other search engines.

Every day, adding fresh content to your website is more important in search engine marketing, and an easy way to do this without making changes to your website is through the publishing of articles on your blog.

6 Example of content types that you can use on your blog as part of your search engine marketing strategy

  1. News relevant to your industry, for example: new laws, products, etc.
  2. Information on new products and/or services you offer
  3. Testimonials about your products and/or services
  4. Examples of how individuals or businesses have benefited from using your products and/or services
  5. Examples of how your products and/or services solve problems
  6. Information about events and/or workshops you offer

As you can see, the range of information to be shared is ample. But, from my own experience, I know it is not easy to write regularly. In many cases, the problem consists in implementing a system that will allow us to produce content. If there is no available person to follow through, it is possible to contract this service from a professional. The key is to assign this responsibility to one person, either inside or outside of your business.

How can I help you?

If you don’t know where to start, I can help you decide, which possible topics would be interesting to include in your blog. If you want to go deeper, we can create a list of specific topics to post in the next 12 months. If you still have doubts about how to position your website in the search engines, don’t hesitate to contact me.

I read the following article:

Forget Apple, Forget Facebook: Here’s The One Company That Actually Terrifies Google Execs By Nicholas Carlson from Business Insider.

Many of us use Google for our web searches, Google makes most of it’s income when we do web searches just before we are ready to buy something online.

On the other hand, the other author explains that there seems to be a trend for people to directly to websites like Amazon.com to to make searches directly instead of taking the extra step of doing the searches in Google.

This becomes even more true when you consider people using mobile devices and tables when doing online purchases.

I  know this is something that happens to me,  and I have find myself many times searching and researching in Amazon before making a product online. Has this happened to you to? Where do you search before making an online purchase?

I was thinking the other day about how we tend to have attitudes about certain things in our daily lives; many times we are not even conscious about it.

Again and again we stop doing things because we think we are not good enough doing them or maybe believe they are not right for us.

It got me thinking. Maybe we need to do a conscious effort to change our attitudes about certain things. If we do not change our attitudes we might be missing out on new experiences, new relationships, new successes and even new failures. By know, you might be thinking how silly it sounds what I just said. How can we be missing out on failures? Well, if you start to see failures as new learning experiences, you realize that the more you do and the more new things you try, even if they do not work out the way you expected them, the more you will be learning. Hopefully you will be able to apply what you have learned to your next experience, or at least you will be able to share it with other people so they do not make the same mistakes.

Isn’t this what life is all about? Well, let me tell you that the same thing applies to your website internet marketing strategy. It’s important that you are aware and open about constantly trying new ideas and the only way to know if they work or not is by trying them. Listen to your internet marketer suggestions or come up with you own ideas. If you keep doing the same old things, you will be getting the same results over and over again, and this is not what most of us expect from our websites.

If you want to improve your website results you need to spice up your Small Business Internet Marketing internet Strategies, try new things.  I know you will not regret it.

It has been a while since my last post, I have been very busy with work and it has been hard to keep up with the blog.

I have had some changes in my schedule and I had to replace my morning walks with a visit to the Gym. I have never been a Gym person, basically because I prefer to be outside and enjoy nature. My visits to the gym started me thinking, why is it that we always want to see immediate results even though when we know that it’s not possible. It seems like our brain enjoys playing tricks on us. The reasons to go to the Gym should be to stay healthy and fit; these are a long term goals and it’s important for us to accept it and not ask ourselves if the Gym is really working for us every time we are getting ready to go.

The same thing applies to internet marketing, and I can tell you this as a small business owner and also as someone that specializes in small business web site design.
When your business has a website, you need to constantly work on your website, review existing keywords, add new keyword phrases, create new web pages, revise landing pages, participate in social media websites, etc. The list seems endless, and sometimes small business owners do not focus enough in all this website work.

Your business should participate in all these activities not because you will see results today or tomorrow, but because you need to invest in the future of your business and it’s another important way to assure that your business will stay healthy and fit.

Remember do not let your brain play tricks on you if you do not see the expected results today. Internet marketing for small business is a long term process, just like going to the gym.
