How to build today the business of tomorrow

how to build today the business of tomorrow
I’m excited to share a summary of episode 99 of the podcast.

Have you ever wondered: How to build today the business of tomorrow? Keep reading.

I’ve been immersed in the business world for over 25 years, and if I’m honest with myself, I can say that I’ve been exploring how to use technology all my life.

However, it’s also true that for many years, I felt that my business wasn’t growing at the pace I knew it could.

There was a question I couldn’t stop asking myself.

A question that played in my mind like a broken record.

“Why, if I’m doing everything right?

If I’m doing everything I could possibly do?

Why can’t I take my business to the next level?

If I am help other business grow and get results for my clients:

Why do I struggle so much to achieve results for myself?”

From a blurry vision to a completely focused vision

It’s as if I had a clear and sharp vision of what I wanted to achieve, as if I were wearing 3D glasses while dreaming and visualizing the vision of the future.

But when I tried to get there, everything became blurry.

A change in perspective

The irony is that this is exactly the challenge we face over and over again when we decide to take our companies to the next level.

Albert Einstein once said:

“We cannot solve problems by thinking in the same way we thought when we created them.”

This means that the mindset that got you to where you are now is not the same mindset that will help you overcome the obstacles you currently face.

The Analogy of 3D Glasses

When you view the world through that old mindset, everything becomes blurry, just like when you take off 3D glasses during a movie.

The key to solving this problem lies in realizing that you need to change your perspective and see the problem from a new angle.

The invisible barrier that prevents you from seeing clearly

When we’re trapped in frustration, it’s normal to feel pain and anger.

At the same time, we also feel helpless.

Pain and frustration influence our actions and have an effect on our results:

The first effect is that our focus is on the pain.

The second effect is that all our energy is directed toward hiding or convincing ourselves that we’re not feeling these negative emotions.

In other words, we’re avoiding our emotions.

How to shift from the problem to the solution: The Market

The solution to this problem lies in learning to redirect your focus from the pain and negative emotions toward new possibilities, which are outside of us, in the market.

The solution to the problem you’re trying to solve in your business is found outside of you, living in the pain or desire of the market, not in our own pain.

The Bridge to the Future: How to prepare your company for the future

In my opinion, this bridge that takes us from where our company is in the present to where we want it to be in the future is called “Emotional Intelligence.”

I know, this is probably not what you want to hear.

But that’s precisely what’s holding you back.

How to cross the bridge? By Changing Your Paradigms

So, how do you get on that bridge that allows you to build today the business of tomorrow?

You start by changing your mindset, and to do that, you need to start by identifying and overcoming the outdated beliefs that keep you trapped in a cycle of doing more of the same.

And that can only be achieved by changing your paradigms.

The challenge here is that it’s not possible to change your paradigms using common sense.

So, how do you change paradigms?

The Importance of Emotional Intelligence

And that’s the great irony of this new era we find ourselves in.

In the era of artificial intelligence, what we need the most is to develop our emotional intelligence, both to grow our companies and to grow as individuals and as a society.

If you want to learn more about how to prepare your company for the future, I invite you to listen to episode 99: “How to build the company of tomorrow today (the danger of using common sense),” recorded in Spanish, on the podcast.

why some businesses stand out Today I will share with you my experience with one of my favorites topics: Why Some businesses stand out (While others are ignored). This post is a summary of podcast episode 98.

In an increasingly competitive business world, standing out and excelling is essential. Have you ever wondered why some companies achieve exceptional success while others go unnoticed? As a business mentor and coach, I’m delighted to share with you the keys to business success. This article is specifically designed for small business owners, creative service providers, and experts who want to take their businesses to the next level.

Inspiration and Creativity: The Engine of Success

Inspiration and creativity are fundamental to standing out in the business world. As I personally experienced during a special summer, exposure to art can awaken our creativity and motivation.

In my own experience, visiting a Picasso museum changed my perspective and led me to explore the creative process.

The Importance of Inspiration

Inspiration fills us with a wonderful feeling, captivates us, and changes something within us. It can make our bodies vibrate differently and make us grateful for what we have in front of us.

The key question is:

How can you apply this feeling to your company? What inspires you to create something unique?

Motivation for Meaningful Creation

When we create something meaningful, we stand out from the competition.

It’s like painting a picture from scratch rather than just painting by numbers.

This kind of creation is unforgettable and it changes something within us.

Important question:

What motivates you to create something that no one else has created?

How can you apply this motivation to your business?

The Difference between creating something meaningful Vs. creating something generic

The Experience of Creating Something Meaningful

Creating something that touches the soul is like nothing else.

Observing something that excites you, makes you feel something in your body, and that sparks an internal conversation with yourself,  is something we remember.

On the other hand, generic creation tends to be quickly forgotten.

Question for reflection:

When was the last time you experienced meaningful creation?

Applying inspiration and creativity to your business

The Analogy with Company Positioning

Like artistic creation, your business’s positioning must be meaningful and authentic.

You can’t follow generic steps and expect to stand out in a competitive market.

Critical question:
How are you positioning your business?
Are you following generic steps or creating something unique?

The 3 Truths to Stand Out and Attract New Customers

In conclusion, here are the three truths you should consider to stand out and attract new customers:

  1. Your company’s message must connect with the person behind the screen.
  2. Losing control of your company’s voice makes your message generic.
  3. Generic messages are ignored and become boring.

Keep these truths in mind as you deepen your understanding of why Some businesses stand out while others are ignored.

Don’t let your business become just one more in the crowd. Stand out, connect, and be memorable.

How to connect emotionally with your client (In the new era)

how to connect emotionally with your client

Today I will share with you my experience with one of my favorites topics: how to connect emotionally with your client. This post is a summary of podcast episode 97.

I’ve had many interesting conversations with people who wrote to me regarding last week’s episode, which is episode 96.

The Power of Diverse Opinions

This week, I want to continue sharing my process and observations with you. I want to clarify that my intention is not to impose my opinion.

That is precisely the point here:

Understanding that we can all have different opinions and the importance of coexisting even if we don’t think the same.

Art, Science, and Changing Perspectives

Once a mentor told me that when she thinks of me, she imagines me in a lab coat conducting experiments, listening to how she sees me made me smile.

I felt like she knew me.

Isn’t that what we’re all looking for?

To feel that the people around us know us and see us?

I definitely don’t put on a lab coat.

I see all of this more as art and science.

The Internet’s Transformation

From my point of view, this week marks a before and after of the Internet as we know it.

We will never see the Internet in the same way as we did a week ago.

Not because anything happened to the Internet.

It’s just that each of us changed.

We are not the same people we were a week ago.

This reminds me of a question a client asked me recently while I was showing him how to apply The Psychology of Internet to one of the services he offers in his business.

“Denise, if the Internet works this way now, how did it work before 2020, before the pandemic?”

Once again, that question made me smile.

Maybe you are wondering why?

And the answer is that the Internet was exactly the same.

What changed is how people see and use the Internet.

The pandemic marked the first time that we, as a collective, used the Internet as mean to stay connected when the world shut down.

The Internet didn’t change; what changed is how people began using it.

For reasons we all know, the pandemic was a historic moment in our lives.

But beyond that, it also marked a historic moment because all at once, no matter where we lived in the world, we felt a massive loss as a collective.

We all lost our vision of the “normal” world as we knew it.

A Global Perspective Shift

Something similar happened with the launch of ChatGPT.

According to statistics, this application is the fastest-growing consumer application in history.

This means that ChatGPT is the fastest-growing application in the last 20 years.

In January 2023, ChatGPT had reached 100 million active users, just two months after its launch. The power of the Internet makes this type of application widely available worldwide.

These events have never happened before in history, and they are changing the course of history.

Is the Internet Really Toxic, or is it the way some people use it that makes it that way?

Today, it no longer matters where in the world we live.

We are all being exposed to what’s happening in a way we’ve never been exposed to before.

I heard someone say a few days ago that they hate the Internet.

And although I understand perfectly, I want to emphasize what I said at the beginning:

The Internet is the same; we are the ones who changed.

The Key to Engaging Your Audience

After listening to last week’s episode, a friend wrote to me, saying:

“Your episode struck a chord with me. I’ve been complaining about my audience, complaining a lot because they don’t listen to me and they don’t do what I recommend. I give them good advice, but people simply don’t follow my advice.”

Once again, I couldn’t help but smile at my friend’s reflection because I identified with it too.

I know that feeling too well because years ago, I felt the exact same way.

This is what I’d like you to see:

“People don’t like to listen to advice … online or in real world. People don’t go online so that we can tell them what to do.”

Creating Emotional Connections

So, how are you supposed to make your business visible online?

if you’re not giving advice and you are not constantly trying to proof to the world how much you know?

What are you supposed to do?

This is what I’d like to offer you:

People like to feel understood, people long to feel seen, and they will only trust you if they feel safe with your message.

People need to come to the conclusion on their own that you and your business are their best option.

To have a message that connects emotionally with your client, you need to be able convey all of this, not only with images, videos, and words but also at an energetic level in your posts.

This is a crucial part of the work I do with my clients.

When my clients understand how to do this, they all tell me that they finally realized that having a visible business goes beyond just posting in social media.

Having a visible business requires much more than the mechanical aspects of social media.

It requires knowing how to create an emotional connection through a message that is seen and, at the same time, connects deeply with another human being.

What Your Client is Really Looking For

A few days ago, when I was talking to and celebrating a client who had finished working with me, I asked her why she chose me.

These are her words:

“I realized that you knew me, that you knew what mistakes I was making and what I was failing to do. You knew what I wasn’t doing to be visible. And that made something in me click.”

Going back to the conversation I was having with my friend, when I asked him what stood out to his the most about last week’s podcast episode, his response was:

“I need to take more responsibility; I need to stop complaining that people don’t listen to me or do what I want.”

And that’s what I’d like to leave you with.

When we feel that we’re not being heard, the easiest is to blame others.

Everything changes when we are open to questioning if we’re truly doing a good job of effectively communicating our message.

Everything changes when we let curiosity guide us and we open ourselves up to thinking more from the perspective of the other person, because that’s what will allow you to effectively communicate what you’re trying to say.

Before I finish, I’d like to summarize for you:

  • This week marks a before and after of the Internet as we know it. The Internet doesn’t change; what changes is how we see the Internet.
  • People don’t like to hear advice, not on the Internet and not in daily life. People don’t go on the Internet so that we can tell them what to do.
  • People like to feel understood, feel understood, and they can only trust you when they feel safe when they hear or read your message. People need to come to the conclusion on their own that you and your company are the best option on their own.
  • The Internet is neutral, and all that matters is that there is a person trying to connect with another person behind the screen.

That’s all I have for you today.

how to pivot your service based business during a crisis
The first day of quarantine is probably something I won’t forget. The question floating in my head was: How do I work under these circumstances?

From the beginning, I knew that pretending like nothing was happening was not an option.

I couldn’t stop thinking about the millions of businesses who were struggling and I knew the question that they were obsessively asking themselves: How to pivot your service-based business during a crisis?

Since the first day, I understood the importance of sticking to the same routine every day.

Now more than ever, focus and attention are key to overcome all the challenges we are facing.

For the first time ever, we all have been served time “on a silver trayr”.

If you live in the United States at the time I’m writing this, we are in week 6 of quarantine and we have no idea when we are getting out.

This kind of gift is like a coin with 2 sides.

How to pivot your service-based business during a crisis  (2 sides of the coin)

1. THE FIRST SIDE OF THE COIN

You can look at this time as a chance to do things that you never had a chance to do.

  • You can organize your kitchen drawers and try  new recipes
  • Clean the patio with the pressure washer that you have kept in the garage and in it’s box for 2 years.
  • Play chess online with friends and family
  • And even catch up on Netflix and take more naps.

Maybe you will realize that it’s five in the afternoon and you are still wearing yesterday’s clothes.

All of the above activities will keep you busy and distract you and will help you survive the next 4 weeks.

The problem with all of this is that you are assuming that after quarantine things will go back to “normal”.

That your life will go back to the way it was before.

That finally you would feel “normal” when you go back to the gym, hair salon, movie theater, or even a concert.

But this is not what’s going to happen.

It’s impossible to go back to our past life after weeks of “social distancing”.

The reality is that the world is changing every day and so is the economy.

And if you need proof, just watch the news for a few minutes.

So maybe you are asking yourself:

  • What do I to avoid going crazy?
  • What do I do to not lose everything I’ve worked for?
  • What do I do to not lose my business?

And this takes us to leads us to the second side of the coin.

2. The second side of the coin

If are on the same page about how the world is changing every day.

This is not a time to sit down and wait for things to get better.

I don’t mean to be pessimistic, but no one is coming to save you.

Perhaps you feel deflated, confused, and even sad.

This is the time to take control of your business and your life.

This is the time to make changes to your business NOW.

Maybe you feel tired of all this hustle

I am here to remind you that you have worked too hard to be where you are and this is not the time to give up.

This is not the time to feel sorry for yourself.

This isn’t just happening to you, it’s happening to the rest of the world.

And you need to wake up and take action and become the person that leads your business through crisis.

I know it’s a bitter drink.

But I want you to see something very important that is in your favor.

This isn’t the first time you have had to overcome a challenge.

Remember that the coin has 2 sides and you get to decide how you will react

You can settle to “survive” and sit around wait, or, you can “reinvent your business”, make changes and create recession-proof offers.

Now that you have a new perspective, I’m curious, what are you choosing: Surviving” or reinventing your business?

how can your service based business survive during a crisis
I have been trying to write this blog post about: how can your service-based business survive during the last 5 days and my goal is to share what I have learned.

Just like the rest of the world, I’ve been affected emotionally throughout this pandemic.

There is no logical way to think especially to truly understand what is going on.

The conclusion I have reached is that the weeks ahead are opportunities to work on projects that might have not been a priority before, due to lack of time.

Although no one asked for this, I choose to believe that there are plenty of opportunities waiting to be discovered. Most importantly, it’s crucial to work on our mindset and maintain our focus.

And I get that it is much easier said than done.

How can your service-based business survive during a crisis (in 3 steps)

Here are 3 recommendations you can follow if you want to learn how can your service-based business can survive during a crisis.

1. Have faith

It’s impossible to know how things will unfold so the only thing we can do is have faith that little by little things we’ll be resolved.

And that is where you should put all of your attention.

I have been speaking to many business owners who currently cannot continue serving clients and can’t continue to offer services in person.

One of the most common questions I’ve heard is:

What do I have to do so I don’t lose all my clients?
How can I continue to offer my services if it’s not in person?

What all these people have in common is that their businesses are based on providing services in person without any online strategy.

If you are one of these people, I want you to know that it is totally possible to transform your business online.

Although this may be a huge obstacle for you right now and may seem impossible, I want you to know that it is POSSIBLE!

I have been doing this kind of work with people for years and the good news is that there is a solution.

2. Change your perspective

A couple of days ago I made the decision to make an effort to maintain my routine and continue to work on all my projects.

This is a decision that you can also make.

During the next few weeks, it is possible that each day provides new challenges for each of us.

And learning to change our perspective is key for our mental health.

It’s vital to learn to be PRESENT and focus on what we can do TODAY.

Live one day at a time and look for reasons to be grateful every day.

Developing the ability to change my perspective is high on my list of priorities and I suggest that you add it to your list too.

This ability will allow you to reinvent yourself and your business so you can not only survive but also thrive.

Here is a Forbes article that talks about: How To Be Positive In The Coronavirus World.

3. Action

Now what? You may be wondering.

This must be a question that all of us are asking ourselves with no obvious answer.

But sooner or later, you will need to make a decision.

The most important thing is that your decision with peace of mind and clarity.

Steps (1) and (2) are used in order to gain clarity.

It’s possible that you will gain clarity in just a few days or it may be that it will take you weeks to overcome the confusion which is probably the most realistic scenario.

It is important to decide what to do and who to listen to,

We are living in a decisive moment in history of not only just humanity but each of our lives.

Your business may have had many issues leading up to this era, maybe:

  • You didn’t have enough of an advertising budget.
  • You were missing the time to do everything you have wanted.
  • You were stuck just depending on referrals.
  • You were paying for advertising and not seeing any results.

It doesn’t matter what your problem was.

Now you have another problem in front of you.

And your business depends on you to survive.

The worst thing you can do is stay stuck and wait.

Your business needs you to make decisions every day.

It’s crazy to think that it’s been since I started writing on the blog consistently and it’s amazing to see the impact that it has had on my business, and on my own personal growth.

How to promote your services online: Is it possible?

If you are still not convinced, according to statistics, 63% of all purchases start online, this means that no matter where the final purchase occurs (if it is in a physical or online establishment), 63% of the time, the purchase process Start online.

In other words, 63% of people start their search process using the Internet. If your business can’t be found in the research process of your ideal client, your competitors may always end up with the customers each and every time they have the opportunity.

When I got started, I understood the importance of promoting my services online; I was more than 100 percent convinced of the scope that this would have in my business; however, I didn’t know what I was doing.

This knowing is the only thing that has helped me stay consistent even though in multiple occasions I have felt like giving up.

And all I can say is that I am grateful.

First of all, I want to thank you for being here, because without you none of this would make sense.

I am also grateful to have developed a new skill that I never thought or imagined would be such an essential part of my business and the person I am today.

Every year, at the end of the year, I take the time to analyze the results of the blog.

This year, I made so many changes and created such a wide range of content that I could not be as constant as I would have liked with the Blog.

Perhaps the most significant discovery was to realize and learn how to apply my process of creating written content to different media, such as video and podcasting, not only in Spanish but also in English.

I have been working behind the scenes on projects for others that have allowed me to experiment even more and extend the limit of what was possible for me, and there is nothing better than that.

As is tradition, I am happy to introduce you to the ten most popular blog posts of 2019.

How to promote your services online (lessons of 2019)

1. Why your business isn’t growing (and how to fix it)

Why your business isn't growing
There’s always more than one way to see the problems in your business, but this is especially difficult if you feel frustrated and confused. In this post, I share an exercise where I show you a practical way that can help you change your perspective and start seeing progress in your business.

2. How to overcome challenges of growing a business

How to overcome the challenges of growing your business
As the saying goes in English, if you don’t feel the pain you are not growing, the same goes for your business. And for that reason, you must take time to feel inspired and remind yourself why you do what you do.
Spending time doing things that make you feel good can help you face the regular day-to-day challenges of your business and can also help you maintain the vision of where you want to go.

3. How to plan your online marketing strategy and always win

Doing everything is impossible, especially when the day only has 24 hours. Developing the art of knowing how to identify what is essential in your business is the only thing that will allow you to move forward.
One of the things that separate successful entrepreneurs from those who never see results is that successful entrepreneurs understand that it’s essential to develop the habit of identifying what action you need to take first to move forward.

4. How to build a CEO mindset (and get out of your own way)

how to build a ceo mindset
In this blog post, we go deep into the challenge that most entrepreneurs face when making decisions in their businesses. Learning to change your mindset from employee to CEO may be what will help you make better decisions.

5. How to find your business voice (and standout from the crowd)

How to find your business voice
It doesn’t matter what online marketing strategies or tactics you use; it doesn’t matter how much you pay for advertising, and it doesn’t matter how many followers you have when your message doesn’t connect with your audience.

Not understanding the importance of communicating your voice through a highly visible message is like trying to drive a car without an engine.

6. Why free online marketing courses don’t work

Why free online marketing courses don’t work

Thinking that you can learn something by yourself shuts down your learning opportunities because without realizing it, you assume an attitude of total ignorance, there is no way to know what you don’t know and that is what will keep you stuck. If you want to learn something new and want to do it well, you need to have someone that can coach you through your blind spots and in this post, I explain the best way to do it.

7. How to attract customers to your service

how to attract customers to your service
When you only focus on the problem of not having enough clients, without realizing it, you get stuck, and you can never see the light at the end of the tunnel. You dedicate all your energy to worrying, feeling frustrated, and sad.

Often, the solution is in front of you, and you can’t see it because you are so busy thinking about the problem instead of thinking about the solution.

8. Does social media strategy really work?

Does social media strategy really work?
No matter how big your marketing budget is, your results will not change unless you understand your marketing strategy and know what to expect at each stage of the process.

Working on your marketing without a clear vision, a clear strategy and without being understanding who you are talking to in your message can be a complete waste of time.

That’s one of the reasons why copying what your competitors do never works.

9. Why am I not making sales online?

Why am I not making sales online
The mistake that many make is to think that they can “try” to grow their online business. The problem with that is that when you try something to see if it works or not, you aren’t entirely committed to doing the job, and you are not committed to going all-in to get the results so much desire.

In this post, I explain why trying is failing and how you are allowing doubt to guide your decisions.

10. Why my website isn’t bringing any clients

why my website isn't bringing any clients
This is probably one of the most frustrating experiences that entrepreneurs have after investing time and money on their first website. If your website is generating any clients then this blog post is for you.

Conclusion
It has been a year full of learning, where I took many risks that made me feel uncomfortable all the time. From working on content for other formats, such as video and podcasts, to creating content in English for others. Daring to do all these things and more during the last five years has allowed me to answer the question of how to promote your services online.

My wish is that together we make the new year our best year.

Thank you very much for being here, because without you none of this would be possible.

how to grow your service business consistently

If only I had known a year ago, what I know now, one of my clients told me, his comment made me smile, because I totally can relate to that feeling perfectly and that’s why I want to dedicate this week’s post to share what I have learned about: How to grow your service business consistently.

In just a few weeks, we will be saying goodbye to a year and starting a new one.

The difference is that this time, we will also be starting a new decade.

Every year I write about the lessons I learned and the mistakes I made, this not only allows me to share my progress with you but now also allows me to go back in time and read where I was years ago, which is fantastic and priceless at the same time.

The key to learning how to make progress in your business.

If you are like most entrepreneurs I know, this is the time of the year where you check how you did this year and look at the results that you got and at the same time you renew your goals for the following year.

It seems like such a simple exercise that you can’t really do it wrong.

And here my friends is exactly where the trap is.

Because it’s so easy to choose the wrong goal and as a result be stagnant, and that is precisely what happens according to the recent Forbes article that explains why it is so common for companies to fail.

I will lift up the curtain and will share the lessons I learned this year so you can have a peek inside my world and what I have learned about the decision-making process that I use to choose my goals.

How to grow your service business consistently: Lessons from 2019

Lesson # 1: You need to learn to overcome fear

A few days ago, I talked to a businesswoman who feels trapped in her business, and in our conversation, she told me how her most significant problem is her indecision.

And she shared with me how this affects her in her business; simply put, she doesn’t make decisions for fear of being wrong and making mistakes.

The result of this over time is that her situation only worsens, but the worst part is that she can see how her competitors move forward and get everything she wants for her business.

If you know me, I think you already know that I always write about fear because it does no matter at what stage of the business you are, there are still new steps to climb, and there is always the fear of falling and not making it to your destination.

This year I made many decisions that caused me a lot of fear; however, I already have evidence that when something in my business scares me, it is an indicator that this is the direction I should follow.

And the worst thing you can do is stop making decisions in your service company because you are afraid.

Lesson # 2: You shouldn’t do this alone

Imagine for a moment what the experience of taking an exam in college or university would be like, if you are the person studying, taking the exam and also grading the exam.

The experience would be entirely subjective, and you would never learn anything.

The same thing happens when you try to do everything alone in your business, you lose perspective, you give up way too soon, and you think that nothing you do works or even worse that you are doing everything right and again, you don’t understand why you are not getting the results that you want.

I had an experience this year, where exactly that’s exactly what happened to me.

I was feeling doubt and second-guessing one of my goals, to the point where I was questioning the idea of abandoning the goal altogether. And this was also the message that I was receiving from my loved ones.

Luckily, I had a coach by my side who reminded me of the importance of my goal and why it was not time to quit, and it only took a few more days to make my goal a reality.

This is possibly one of the most important lessons of this year, the danger of giving up early.

Lesson # 3: Invest in transformation (and not in physical things)

Some examples of how we sometimes invest in material things are: investing in a new office or commercial premises, making renovations, investing in a new truck, investing in machinery, etc.

The problem with just investing in material things is that they don’t solve the real problem, that is how to grow a service business consistently, in other words, how to increase your sales or attract more clients.

And no matter how much you invest in physical things, if you don’t understand how to achieve the transformation between where you are now and where you want to go, for example: how to go from having no clients to getting new clients consistently every month.

Investing in physical things usually does not have a return on investment unless you first solve the problem of how to sell more in your service-based business.

This is the reason why when I am deciding what to invest in, and what will allow me to take my business to the next level, I always consider beforehand the transformation I need to go through; and who are the people who can help me achieve that transformation.

Before continuing, I want to share with you an infographic that illustrates: How to grow your service business consistently.

But before continuing to lesson number 4, I want to share an infographic that illustrates: How to grow your service business consistently.

how to grow your service business consistently

Lesson # 4: Not all results can be measured in the same way.

Thanks to the fact that I have been documenting the growth of my business over the past few years, I can now see the result and fruit of many things that I started more than a year ago, results that a year ago were invisible to me.

That’s why it is so important to have a long-term vision in your business because many times, we are planting seeds even without realizing it.

It has been a slightly different year from all other years. This year has made me reflect more on the work I do and why I do it.

If you are committed to diving deeper into this topic, I invite you to read the following posts: What to do when your service-based business is stagnant, How to take my business to the next level (in 3 simple steps)

If you want to learn how to grow your service business consistently, you must remember that sometimes in order to go fast, you first need to go slow; I think that during several moments during the year.

I found myself feeling that I was not going quickly enough; the difference is that now I understand how to recognize those moments. And now, I welcome those moments because I know that it is precisely in those moments that I receive the key that will take me to the next level.

how to overcome fear of technology
Is it possible to learn how to overcome the fear of technology in your business? One of my friends asked me when we were talking.

I have helped hundreds of business owners and professionals overcome this problem, and this was the answer to my friend:

YOUR AGE IS NOT THE REASON WHY YOUR BUSINESS IS STAGNANT AND THINKING THAT YOU ARE NOT MAKING PROGRESS BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT GOOD WITH TECHNOLOGY IS WHAT’S KEEPING YOU STUCK

And I decided to share with her a valuable lesson that I learned years ago.

“This is a huge secret, and most of the people I know would not be happy at all if someone discovers their secret.”

A recognized marketing consultant shared this with me in a conversation we had many years ago.

We were having this conversation because I had decided to hire him to get a new perspective on my business.

In our conversation, I shared with him my story and how I had reached the point where I was at that time.

In case you don’t know, a big part of my job is to help people understand how the online world works and I’ve been doing this for over 20 years and of course, I started very young.

How to overcome the fear of technology in your business and why it is so important

The consultant asked me what was the part that I enjoyed the most about the work that I do.

And why it was so crucial for me to teach how to overcome the fear of technology in their business.

At that moment, I could only think about the magic that happens the moment when people conquer fear and build the business of their dreams.

It’s incredible to watch how people can shift their perspective and suddenly everything is possible.

Similar to the moment when you finally learn to ride a bicycle.

He told me that in his experience, this fear is like an epidemic that haunts us all, including executives and successful business owners.

The truth is that I understand it; today, it seems that the world belongs to the younger generation, to those who were born with a smartphone and a computer under the arm.

But let me ask you:

Do all young people succeed in business?

Of course not.

Many young people fail to make their business take off.

However, when we analyze successful people, they all have something in common…

Self-confidence.

Can you find a successful person who doubts himself all the time?
So how do you develop trust?

What to do to build trust and learn how to overcome the fear of technology in your business (in 3 simple steps)

1. The problem

Understanding the real problem. Once you understand what causes the fear and know how to deal with it everything changes.

The problem is not your age or technology, instead, it is your perspective of the problem. And that is exactly what prevents you from finding the solution.

Once you understand and accept that technology is here to help you be better, more productive, reach more people and help your business be more VISIBLE, everything changes.

2. The solution

Once you understand the problem and the solution, everything changes.

One thing is to know how to use technology, and another very different thing is to understand how it works and how to apply it in your business.

And the reality is that most people don’t understand how technology works, including young people.

Before continuing I want to share with you an infographic that illustrates: How to overcome the fear of technology in your business (in 3 simple steps).

3. Confidence

Taking responsibility for understanding the problem and the solution is the key to building your confidence and finally making your business take off.

Right now, you have the following options:

You can continue to mourn and think that because of your age, you are meant to stay behind and continue to be stuck.

And in fact, that is what most people choose to do.

According to 2019 statistics, every day, a million new users are using the Internet, if that doesn’t motivate you to learn how to use technology, I’m not sure what will.

If you’re interested in reading more about what happens in a service-based business when you avoid looking at the impact that technology has in your business, I invite you to read the following blog post: What to do when my service company is stagnant (lessons from an end of the week).

Conclusion
The question you need to answer is: What kind of person are you?

You can be the type of person who decides they want to learn how to overcome the fear of technology in your business and focuses on developing self-confidence and learning the steps to follow.

Or you can be the type of person who gives up, you decide.

How to position your brand when you are just starting out

how to position your brand

From the window I can see the plane, I’m in San Diego California about to return from an exclusive marketing event that I attended with entrepreneurs friends. As always after these events, I am full of ideas, full of energy and inspired to talk about one of the most important topics for your business: How to position your brand.

It was one of the best experiences I’ve had.

I had the opportunity to meet again with several of my mentors at the event, and there is nothing more exciting and rewarding.

Every time I go to one of these events, I remind myself that these people, who dominate the world of online marketing in the United States and the world, are normal people just like you and me.

And what’s even more incredible is, that in most cases when you meet them in person, you have this feeling as if you already know them, because they’re the same as how you perceive them in social media.

I have already had this experience on other occasions, but this time I had the opportunity to live it through one of my friends who was attending this type of event for the first time, and she was so impressed to discover that her online marketing heroes were normal people.

Why am I sharing this?

These people are successful, absolute leaders of their market, who have years of experience, and face challenges every day just like the rest of us.

However, their attitude towards challenges is precisely what allows them to excel.

Many businesses come to me because they want to position their brand, they want to be leaders in their industry, and they want everyone to knows who they are.

The problem is that they want to achieve this overnight.

And that’s a bit like wanting to be super fit after going to the gym once when we all know it takes years of discipline.

The same applies to position your brand.

Some of the common mistakes I frequently see are the following:

  • Pay close attention to designing a logo that represents your brand.
  • Create a beautiful website to impress others
  • Hire an external advisor to help you organize your business.
  • Publish on social media because everyone says you should do it.

So what’s it about?

How to position your brand when you are just starting out

It’s no secret that to dominate the market and position your brand, you need to become a leader in your business.

You need to be able to inspire and influence your team in the same way that you inspire your audience.

I often talk with business owners who understand that NOT BEING THE LEADER is precisely what is keeping them stuck and unable to grow.

I’ve got good news and bad news for you.

The bad news is that being a leader in your business or market is not something that is achieved overnight.

The good news is that you can start today.

If you want to learn how to position your brand and dominate your market, the first step is to trust your company and the services you offer 100%.

It all starts with a decision.

1. Your business needs to be HIGHLY VISIBLE.

It doesn’t matter what you do or what you say if nobody knows that your business exists.

Sometimes I talk to people who tell me that they cannot position their brand because they have no budget to invest in advertising.

Other times, I talk with people who tell me that they invested in advertising and that they didn’t get any results at all.

The reason why I share these scenarios is so that you can see that this is not a problem that you are going to solve by throwing money or waiting until you have a budget because there are thousands of cases in which companies invest budget in advertising, and still don’t see results.

2. A message that connects

It isn’t about publishing on social media to receive likes, I hope you’ve already realized that that doesn’t work.

It would indeed be incredible to create a message that makes your audience fall in love with it, however, it is essential to go much deeper than that.

Additionally to having an irresistible message that your audience falls in love with, the message must connect with the problem that your audience has, for people to have their credit card ready even before knowing the price of your services.

Before continuing, I want to share with you an infographic illustrating: How To Position Your Brand So That Everyone Knows Who You Are.

how to position your brand

3. Master your market to position yourself as the leading brand in your industry

Everything changes the moment you stop chasing clients and get clients to come to you.

Mastering the mind of the consumer is not something that happens overnight, but it is a process that begins when your audience sees your message everywhere.

Your message needs to be so powerful that your audience cannot resist it and automatically trusts you so that they decide to work with you even before having the first conversation.

Knowing how to achieve this is precisely what will allow you to position your brand as a market leader.

Conclusion

If you want to learn how to position your brand, the first thing you should do is think about the challenges you have in your business, and how you can change the way you think about these challenges to get the results you want so much.

Remember that to position your brand you need to be highly visible, you need to have a message that speaks to your audience and dominates the market so that everyone knows your business.

How you beat competitors in a service-based business

how do you beat competitors in a service based business
It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that life in our business would be much easier if we didn’t have competition, that’s one of the most frequently asked questions coming from people I have talked to: “How you beat competitors in a service-based business?”

“I have a lot of competition, and I just can’t continue to lower my prices,” said one of the people sitting next to us in a Café.

Of course, it made me curious since that is one of the biggest difficulties my clients face when they start working with me.

Solving this problem with the wrong strategy can destroy your business and your life.

How to beat competitors in a service-based business: what nobody tells you

One of the most common errors that service businesses make is imitating their competitors and doing the same thing they do, such as lowering their prices.

I’ve spoken with various people who’ve applied this strategy in their business for years, and the result is that they’ve taken their business to bankruptcy because most of the time there’s no way to reverse the lack of money in the business.

A few months ago, we decided to try going to a different grocery store to do the house shopping.

We are lucky to have many options to go to, all at similar distances.

Have you ever thought about what grocery stores do to standout?

What makes you choose to go to one place over the other?

In our case, we discover they’re many factors influencing how we choose where to go.

The one factor that seems to have more weight, is time.

We prefer to go to a smaller grocery store, which has less merchandise and purchase options, to devote less time to this task every week.

Imagine the following scenario: If a small store assumes that we all want to go to the same type of store as large as all of its competitors, we would lose our new shopping option.

But it turns out, we’re not the only ones wanting to save time, thousands of people think alike.

And that’s exactly how small grocery stores standout and succeed.

How to beat competitors in a service-based business (3 mistakes you should avoid)

1. How are you going to standout

If what you’re looking for if for your business to stand out and distinguish itself in the sea of competitors, I want you to know there’s hope.

There is nothing worse for your business than the danger of imitating others.

The mistake many make is to think that it is about seeing what others are doing and trying to do the same.

There are two significant problems with imitating the competition:

The first problem:
You don’t know if their strategy works, so perhaps you are copying something that doesn’t work at all.

Remember, just because another business does it, doesn’t mean that their strategy works.

The second problem:
If you always copy what others do, you’ll always be behind your competition.

Neither of these two options allows you to grow or standout.

So what should you do?

2. Understand how your audience makes decisions

A few days ago I read a Google article describing how people prefer to research the product using the Internet, before buying it from the store, with the sole purpose of reducing their purchasing decisions and wasting less time. That proofs that my husband and I are not alone in this.

The purchasing process is easier when we have fewer options to choose from.

So how can you apply these processes to your service-based business?

When you know your audience like the palm of your hand, you know what’s important and what’s not important to them, which leads us to step 3.

But before continuing, I’d like to share an infographic illustrating: How to beat competitors in a service-based business (3 mistakes you should avoid).

3. Design a strategy which allows you to standout

The first thing your strategy needs is a captivating message, one which communicates with absolute clarity the reason why people should choose your business services.

However, it is ineffective to have an irresistible message if there’s no client traffic.

That’s why you need a strategy that includes both: a highly visible captivating message which allows you to stand out, and constant client traffic every day.

The combination of both is what will allow you to grow your business.

If you want to understand the steps you must follow to execute this type of strategy in your business, I encourage you to take a look at my FREE class so you can finally see the results you want.

Conclusion
It turns out that the best way to beat your competition is not to compete directly with it.

The moment you understand this, you can position yourself as a leader in your business.

What are you doing to stand out from your competition?
